How to identify a Taxi


Taxis are easily identifiable by their distinctive yellow color and roof sign displaying their taxi number. Recently, some taxis have been equipped with a visible indicator located behind the windshield: a red indicator signifies that the taxi is currently occupied, while a green one indicates that it is available for service.

Taxis are usually everywhere on the main streets and roads of Djerba, simply raising your hand can hail an available taxi. Additionally, you can find them clustered at various stations in city centers and in front of tourist attractions and hotels. Here's a list of Taxi Station in Djerba:

How much does a Taxi ride cost


The cost of a taxi ride can vary depending on the distance, number of stops, amount of luggage, and whether it's daylight or night. But here's how your expenses are calculated:

  • Day prices - from 5AM to 9PM

    First, there's a fixed charge of 0,900 TND. Then for each 79 meters you pay 0,046 TND. If the Taxi is at an idle state (waiting, when you make a stop), for each 18 seconds you pay 0,046 TND.

  • Night prices - from 9PM to 5AM

    In general, night prices are comparable to day prices with a 50% increase.
    First, there's a fixed charge of 1,350 TND. Then for each 79 meters you pay 0,069 TND. If the Taxi is at an idle state (waiting, when you make a stop), for each 18 seconds you pay 0,069 TND.

  • Additional Costs

    In addition to the previously stated costs, you may be required to pay additional charges.

    1. If you carry luggage bigger than 45 cm and/or heavier than 10Kg, you will be paying 1,000 TND per piece (bag, box, case...)
    2. If you are taking a Taxi from/to the Djerba-Zarzis International Airport, you will be paying an additional fixed fee of 4,500 TND
